Biography

I was born and raised in the North Shore area within Vancouver, British Columbia and I have been an artist since I was very young.
I fondly remember once using my chocolate pudding as finger paint while using my finger as a paint brush to create images on my high chair desktop. My love for the imaginative and magical fantasy world grew as I read stories and watched countless movies portraying mythical beasts in richly written fairy tales and fables.
My desire to learn how to harness the beauty of these magnificent creatures (mermaids, unicorns, pegasus etc) on paper grew stronger after every piece of work i had created. I continue to hone my skills and drive myself to improve the quality of my work as an ongoing process. While spending most of my time in the art room in high school I was fortunate to have the ability to experiment with different forms of artistic media (etching, textile arts, Studio Art, Photography, print-making and sculpting).
In later years, I became heavily inspired as I had discovered the talents of Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Tom Cross, Jody Bergsma, Stephanie Pui-Mun Law and dozens of other amazing artists. By studying their choice of mediums and their individual styles, I went on the search for my own style and prepared for a life in the world of Art.
I am mostly self-taught in drawing, painting and digital graphic design. In my mid-20's I began to study with a very inspirational and talented Native artist by the name of Terrence Young. Terrence took the time to teach me some of the most useful techniques in painting that I continue to use today in my own artworks. I studied with him from 1999 to 2002 in both Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario and within that time I have sold paintings to various different clients and galleries.
Shortly after my return to Vancouver in late 2002, my interests as an artist began to turn to the digital world as I discovered the amazing potential of using a computer as a tool to create some fantastic pieces. I began exploring the complexity of Adobe Photoshop and spent hours searching for resources and tutorials to teach myself how to use the program to create various different images and designs.
While learning how to use Photoshop for all of my graphic uses, I discovered the functionality of building my own website and thus made Photoshop the new engine for designing my own online interactive worlds. I fell in love with the idea of creating websites where the viewer can interact with my own original images and designs while they take a virtual tour of my own imagination.
Now, after the designing of multiple websites, gallery showings and marketing with graphic design, my long-time dream to attend an institution for Art and Design has now become my long-term focus. In the meantime I continue to work in full-time sales while learning the fundamentals of business management in my current vocation.
